- $ff2|1-A review of my bank account.

- When I went to Uni, I decided to keep my account with Natwest, but put
- it into a StudentLine account. I remember the first time I went into
- the Middlesbrough Cleveland Centre branch and I had a chat with a rather
- nice looking woman who was really looking at me kinda strange! Er..
-
- Anyway, I got a statement informing me my account had been changed over
- to the StudentLine account. I had to go to the bank to pick up my
- Switch/Bank card, with the PIN number in a sealed envelope thing.
- Everything`s fine.
-
- I had started an only just validated course at Uni, so my grant was
- late, very late in getting through. I had to wait for my loan as well.
- About a week after I moved in, I had the offer of buying a second hand
- A1200. I had little cash in the bank and the guy wanted 200 chunks for
- it. So I went to the bank and asked if I could have an overdraft for a
- bit. It was cleared then and there and I withdrew 200 smackers to give
- to the guy that day. No probs.
-
- There was one time where I went in with a load of bags full of copper
- coins and had to stand counting the bags out (they were all equal to a
- quid each) and I could see the bank teller wasn`t impressed. That`s
- been the only time. I just guess it was her time of the month or summat
- :)
-
- The only other "minor" cockup was when my card expired, so they sent me
- a new one. If you look on a card, it`ll tell you what issue no. it is.
- Funny thing is, the one that ran out was issue one. The new one sent
- through the post was issue three, and I received issue two a few days
- later. The two new ones I received had different PINs as well..so I
- tried card no. 2. Didn`t work. I tried no.3 and seconds later I had a
- crisp tenner in my hand.
-
- I even forgot the PIN number, told the bank and they sent me a reminder
- (in a sealed envelope thing) even though all I had to do was go home and
- check.
-
- Even extending and extending my overdraft - they didn`t bat an eyelid.
- There was one time where I filled a form and I was living at home over
- the summer break and I put the reason for the extension down to living
- costs. Someone from the bank rang me up and asked "living costs?
- aren`t you living at home at the moment?" and i answered, "Well, I had
- to put something.." and he laughed and gave me the extension, which I
- thought was great. They just didn`t seem to mind giving me money that
- I`d spend on going out on the booze, computer gear or various other
- guff.
-
- Now I`m paying back the hoooooj overdraft I ran up. I could only go to
- 900 on the overdraft, which was fair enough. I think I managed to get
- up to around 898 quid!!! Ah well, it`s down to about 450 at the moment,
- with a limit of 550. My account (I guess) has been changed to the
- Graduate account, as you have until the end of the year when you
- graduate to pay back anything you owe, and then you start paying
- interest if you don`t manage to. Not having a permanent source of
- income is a severe bummer, and I think the bank realise this. The
- interest is 9.5% apr at the moment, I think they are giving me as long
- as I want to pay the rest off.
-
- Anyway, I`d rate it as brilliant. The service I`ve received has been
- ace so far. I just hope they don`t bugger it up after all this time.
